Benedictions found in the Bible

This is not an exhaustive list by any means, but I pray it will be helpful for those looking for a benediction in the Holy Scriptures. A special thank you to Peter O’Brien’s work in the IVP Dictionary of Paul and His Letters on “Benediction, Blessing, Doxology, and Thanksgiving.” All passages are listed in the ESV.

The Lord bless you and keep you;
the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you;
the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.

Numbers 6:24-26

There are many who say, “Who will show us some good?
Lift up the light of your face upon us, O Lord!”
Psalms 4:6

Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness.
Psalms 29:2

May the Lord give strength to his people!
May the Lord bless his people with peace!
Psalms 29:11

Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting!

Psalms 41:13

Ephesians 3:14-21

Peace be to the brothers, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Grace be with all who love our Lord Jesus Christ with love incorruptible.
Ephesians 6:24

And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:7

And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
To our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen.
Philippians 4:19-20

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit.
Philippians 4:23

1 Thessalonians 3:11-13

Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
1 Thessalonians 5:23

2 Thessalonians 2:16,17

Hebrews 13:20-21

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
1 Peter 1:3–5

…But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.
2 Peter 3:18

But you, beloved, building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life.
Jude 1:20-21
